Designer's Inspiration
Inspired by Marie Antoinette's daughter, Marie-Thérèse. The pendant represents both pain and strength -- Marie-Thérèse was imprisoned and mistreated during the French Revolution. She was only 11 when the Bastille was stormed on July 14, 1789. Despite her rough childhood, she was freed at the age of 17 and proved to be mentally tough and politically adept. Nearly 20 years later, when Napoleon tried to take France after fleeing exile on Elba, she was so fearless in standing her own ground that the general called her "the only man in [her] family."
The blackened sterling silver bars do not obscure the view of the royal fleur de lis symbol, which is atop an engraved brick wall.
